There is no tire. The whole wheel measures 1 5\/8\" across.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIMPORTANT NOTE:  There are currently no wheels being produced that fit the 700e or 763. It turns out these newer wheels, though they are from the original molds for the 700e and 763e, have wider axle holes. On their modern era runs of the 700e and 763, Lionel used these wheels with axles for the 773, so the holes are slightly larger.
