You are looking at a vintage American Flyer #17B transformer.  The 17B is has 190 watts of power and one controller and best of all, a voltmeter and an ampmeter built right in to the transformer.  This one has been serviced and tested here at Lone Star Trains and is doing everything it should.  It was made ONLY in 1952.

Was there any other postwar era transformer that had 190 watts through ONE channel??

I really like the green print on the back plate. It is a neat shade!
This one has large red and green bulbs in it at the top. I have seen this one with large bulbs as well as with small bulbs and covers. I am happy to change it out for you if that is your preference.

This one features:

  • American Flyer's famous "Dead Man's Control"
  • Circuit Breaker
  • 190 Watts of Power
  • Through ONE handle

CONDITION: Clean. Just serviced! Tested and works as it should. Good cord. Looks nice. Base is in nice shape. Has some wear to back metal plate. Some light wear here and there. Has large bulbs. Upon request, can change out to small bulb and jewel cover. With a COPY of instructions.
