You are looking at an interesting American Flyer diesel engine from 1953. This is the famous "Blue" COMET PA diesel. As you can see, it is the 1953 CHROME VERSION.
Better yet, THIS ONE IS AN INTERESTING VARIATION. Check your Greenberg--look at variation C. This one is a factory overpaint of a Santa fe #470 shell. You can see the swoop of the warbonnet trim and some red paint under the Comdet paint. Really cool. The decals for the Comet and 466 American Flyer take up the whole blue section (in other versions, they are cut closer to the letters).
in great cosmetic shape.
- Open pilot version
- Knuckle coupler
CONDITION: C7. Factory paint over a Santa Fe 470! Chrome looks great. Very clean. All decals are nice. Some rubs and light scratches here and there on the roof, especially along edges. Look at and enlarge all pictures. Really looks nice. Just serviced, running well. With an age-appropriate repro box.
