You are looking at an American Flyer Monon Railway piggyback flat car with two vintage Gilbert trailers. As you can see, it is in fantastic shape, and it comes in the original WHITE box.
This is the one from 1957. It is the painted flat car version, and it comes in the white box used in those awesome sets in 1957-58. it is great in its own right, but if you are finishing a set, this is the one you want.
I love that the used the classic 46 Crossing Gate catalog cover for these.
- Detailed graphics on trailers
- Removable loads
- Operating knuckle couplers
- Made in the USA
- With white box
CONDITION: C-7 EXCELLENT Condition. The gray paint and the maroon print on the flat are in beautiful condition--smooth nice patina and crisp printing. All steps. The trailers each have the PA number inside. The blue on the graphics on one trailer is slightly lighter than the blue on the other, but they both look great. This shade is mostly noticeable in the close up flash pictures.
This flat COMES WITH A BOX-- It is the plain white box with the five digit number stamped on it (known variation). Somewone hand-wrote 956 on it as well. TThe box is in P-5 Good condition and has some clear tape and inner flaps missing on one end. There is some edge wear as well as creasing. The box coloration has aged a little, and there are marks on the box as well. All shown.
