You are looking at a vintage prewar tunnel. It is made of wood with an overlay of a composite plaster material that has been painted. This one has the original sticker still ont he inside with what I believe is the item number.
I think this one is likely of German manufacture, possible Bing or one of the many German toy makers back then. I suppose it could be a postwar Japanese copy?
It measures
- 8" long
- 6.25" tall
- appr 6" wode outside to outside
- Opening: 2.75" at the base and 5" tall
This tunnel measures approximately 10" long, 10" wide outside to outside, and about 7 inches tall. Has an interesting horseshoe shaped opening.
It is possible this tunnel was for a wind up set?
Great with early wind up, O or even S!
FEATURES:
- 7" High
- Footprint is 10" x 10"
- Paper Mache construction with solid hard cardboard understructure
- Cool texture
- 1920s
- Mountian vista and road on the sides
CONDITION: C-6. Looks nice. There is some wear and flaking to the thick texture on the outside of the tunnel. Inside the tunnel, you can see some cracks in the wood. Has the original item sticker.
