You are looking at a STUNNING Lionel J-Class, the iconic Southern Pacific Daylight streamlined steam engine and tender. This one was an instant classic. Can you believe that Lionel never did this one in the postwar era? So the modern Daylights are really special.
THIS ONE is the model from 1983, numbered 4449.
SOUND NOTE: Note that this earlier model does not have fancy digital sounds as Lionel did not offer that yet! This one has the electronic sound of steam which sounds like white noise interrupted at the speed of the locomotive. The electronic whistle is also just that--electronic--it is not digital.
CONDITION: C-7+. Runs, sounds, smokes and reverses like it should. Cosmetically a beauty with just a few rubs: in the white stripe on the bottom of the side towards the front, pictured; on the cowcatcher, pictured. The rollers do not show lots of run time. The BOX has a coffee cup stain or something, some kind of epoxy stuck to the box in one spot. The styrofoam box lid has a crack in it, and the styrofoam box itself is pretty used looking for the locomotive and grease, I guess. Be sure to enlarge the pics to see it all.
