CLEAN and WORKING

You are looking at the biggest transformer available in the prewar and early postwar era. This is a vintage Lionel Type Z transformer.  The Z is one of the most powerful made in toy train land--it has 250 watts of power and four controllers.  Just...WOW. Has a great vintage 1940's look and feel. This one has been tested here at Lone Star Trains and is doing everything it should.  It was made 1945-47.

This one features:
  • 250 watts
  • 1945-47
  • Original silver faceplate
  • offered both prewar and postwar
  • four different controllers/circuits
  • built in circuit breakers
  • a COPY of instructions upon request
  • Power cord has been replaced
It did not come with a whistle controller, so you will want to add your 167 whistle controller (which is how they did it back in the old days), railsounds button, or use your TMCC/DCS for that. This one looks GREAT with a few scratches on the faceplate. Control knobs have scratches and wear. The power cord has been replaced, so you do not have to worry about that. Tested, and it operates as it should. This one has the original flat silver faceplate. It makes a little noise, quietly humming as they all do.

Whether you run Lionel or even American Flyer, you can use this AC power supply. You can use it for multiple loops on your layout, or use it to manage some of those accessories that take a lot of juice. How nice to just set the knob where you want each accessory to be power-wise.

CONDITION:
Just serviced, tested and works. Unit is clean with some wear and scuffs on faceplate and a just a few here and there in the bakelite. Faceplate is original and looks good despite the scratches. All four controls tested and work. Control knobs have some scratches and wear. New cord. Looks nice. The base has some scratches and surface rust as well as a name scratched into it (which we blurred to protect the innocent). NO BOX. Can provide  a COPY of the original instructions upon request.
