You are looking at the biggest transformer available in the postwar era. This is a vintage American Flyer #30B transformer. The 30B is one of the most powerful made in toy train land--it has 300 watts of power and two controllers. Just...WOW. This one has been tested here at Lone Star Trains and is doing everything it should. It was made 1948-60.
EVEN BETTER, unlike any postwar Lionel transformers, this one came with voltage meters built in!
This one features:
- two visible meters so you can monitor what you are outputting
- built in circuit breakers
- American Flyer's famous "DeadMan's Control"
- Short circuit light indicators
- DUAL CONTROLS: You can run two different loops of train with the two separate circuits and controls here
- COPY of Instructions
This one looks GREAT. The bottom metal plate and the back plate both show some oxidation. It operates as it should. It makes a little noise, humming as they all do.
Whether you run Flyer or Lionel, you can use this AC power supply. And one thing I always liked about this model is that UNLIKE ANY LIONEL TRANSFORMER from the era, THIS model has
- Deadman Control: when you pull up on the handles, the power is interrupted which will trip the reverse unit in the locomotive.
- A switch to turn it OFF wiothout having to unplug it!
- VOLTMETERS right there on the unit
Put it in the collection or put it to use!
