How often do you see this one BOXED?
You are looking at a fantastic addition to your American Flyer collection. This is the hard to find and collectible Baker's Chocolate tank car from 1959-60. I beieve this one dates to 1959 since the 1960 version often came in the plain white box.
There really has not ever been another tank car like it--it has so much detail and so many graphics. It is like an advertising reefer and a tank car were combined.
As you know, it came in the famous Merchandiser Set, #20540. It is one of the harder to find components that set is famous for.
This is a classic postwar tank car from the good old days... and it is one of the tougher ones to find--a nice addition to the collection. PLUS this one is the cool classic with the PAINTED GRAY platform, platform railings, hatch and ends.
If you collect American Flyer and do not have it, this is a MUST HAVE.

A couple of notes: The ladders on each side are sitting a little bit crooked. I do not know if this can be adjusted or not since it looks like the platform is glued into place (but who knows how firmly?). I will let the new owner try to adjust the ladder.
CONDITION: C-7. Optimist says C-7; others may call it C-6+. Complete. Crisp printing. All four steps on the frame are here. To get super picky, if you look super close, the car has a few things to note: there is a little bit of glue residue and maybe fingerprint? on the plastic base where the placards were glued into place also glue visible where the top platform was glued into place at the bottom feet of the platform; small paint nicks as pictured; crooked ladder; some kind of wear on outside edge of platform in one small spot; light oxidation on coupler magnet.
The BOX is P-6, nicer than most, with good item printing on one end. Box has the usual white discoloration from time, hobby store writing, minor tears and creases. Overall, it looks nice as well.
