Earliest version of the 736
You are looking at a classic O gauge locomotive. This is THE one everyone wants, and for a long time, Classic Toy Trains magazine used the postwar Berkshire as a measuring stick in its reviews of newer engines. This is the classic heavy die cast Lionel 1950's 2-8-4 steam engine.
This unit is an early version, produced 1950-51:
- SILVER numbers stamped under cab windows
-
3 piece cab window
-
Headlight without the bracket
- Flagstaffs present on front
- Die cast trailing truck
- 2046W tender with the smaller lettering
In addition, it has all the usual Berkshire features:
- Magnetraction
- Headlight
- Smoke
- Reverse
- Whistling Tender
CONDITION: Engine is C-6+, close to C-7; tender is cosmetically C-5+ due to some hairline cracks on one corner, pictured. Locomotive just serviced and runs, smokes, lights, and reverses. The engine has paint rubs. The printing is good. The tender whistles. Tender has light handling wear, and hairline corner crack all pictured. Tender steps are still here.
