You are looking at a very cool hi-cube boxcar set made in 1977-78. This is the FREIGHT CARS for the Disney Mickey Mouse Express freight car series. All but one car have their original boxes. These boxes were custom decorated ONLY for this series. As Lionel did back then, these cars were sold one at a time as separate sale rather than in a complete set, so different cars have different collector values. There were thirteen cars including a caboose and an extra limited edition Mickey Mouse birthday car which is included here. The Mickey birthday car celebrates 50 years of Mickey.
The 9666 Pinnochio car has an interesting FACTORY MISPRINT on one end--they accidentally stamped the data line from the roof's edge on the side at the bottom in addition to the proper location!
You will want to buy an engine to pull the set or display with it. Fortunately, Lionel has produced many different Disney themed diesels and steam engines, so pick the one you like the most. We have a neat 1990's era EP-5 in our other listings which would look nice. The 1970s U36 diesel is the one issued contemporaneously.

CONDITION: Overall C-6+ to C-7. Some cars have light rubs and scratches, some have a few scuffs. All but one car have original boxes. If any seller is being honest with you, the white of these cars never stays bleachy white--I call it age related discoloration.

The boxes all show some shelfwear, but they are complete, and their label ends are complete.
