You are looking at a super MTH Tinplate Traditions release from way back in 1998--that's right, one of the very first catalogued in 1998.
This one is the best of both worlds--the exact look of the classic Lionel 392E 4-4-2 steam engine but now with the brand new parts and shine of a new item. Put this looker out on display and don't worry about a thing. Let everyone ooh and ahhh. PLUS this one has Protosounds added, so it has the look of the old days, but you can also have the sound you always wanted.
This is one of the earliest MTH tinplate items. As such, it is not one you see for sale all that often.
It is a remake of the old classic Lionel 392E. Use it with any standard gauge, and it will be right at home.

CONDITION: C-7+ to C-8. Looks like new in the box. Tested and runs, lights, sounds, and smokes well. The engine and tender look like new. Great patina. Cosmetic bell is here, but detached from boiler top; you just need to pop it back in. You might find a rub or two, but I have not seen any. Tender has a few very small paint nicks--one tiny spec on each side of the lip of the coal bin--and a small dent on the side, but they are hard to find. Recommend charging the battery prior to running as it is an older engine. With instructions and box. Box is P-6 with rubs, creases and unglued corner.
