What an Iconic locomotive!
You are looking at a super MTH Tinplate Traditions release from way back in 1999--that's right, one of the very first catalogued in 1999.
This one is the best of both worlds--the exact look of the classic Lionel 9E dark green elelctric engine but now with the brand new parts and shine of a new item. Put this looker out on display and don't worry about a thing. Let everyone ooh and ahhh. PLUS this one has Protosounds added, so it has the look of the old days, but you can also have the sound you always wanted.
This is one of the earliest MTH tinplate items. As such, it is not one you see for sale all that often. It really is stunning.
It is a remake of the old classic Lionel 9E. Use it with any standard gauge, and it will be right at home.

CONDTION: C-7+ to C-8. Looks like new in the box. You might find a rub or two, but I have not seen any. There is some very slight oxidation on the rails. Tested and runs, lights, sounds well. Recommend charging the battery prior to running as it is an older engine. With instructions and box. Box is P-5 with a chewed corner, rubs, creases, indentions, and a tear.
