Wow--a complete and operating 1930's Yankee set!!
You are looking at a desirable Lionel set offered from 1936-41. This is the iconic Boston and Maine Flying Yankee train set, the articulated streamliner that everyone wanted back in the day. I think it might have even been in the window at the toy store at the beginning of A Christmas Story (if it wasn't, it should've been!).
The set is complete with vestibules. There are no boxes.
Here is a breakdown of the components:
The 616E Engine
- Gunmetal gray paint
- Chrome
- E Unit Reverse
-
Light
CONDITION: C-6+. Tested and runs. Reverse works. You can see the scratches in the paint, especially on the very front. This is the gunmetal gray painted version with the gunmetal gray on the front. The top part with the stacks is unbroken--usually, this is not the case, so this is a bonus.
The PASSENGER CARS
Of course, all the vestibules are here, complete and looking good with operating lights.
The cars include two 617 coaches and a 618 observation. The cars are all generally clean. The vestibule truck sides show scratches. The observation rear gunmetal gray shows scratches from use as well. Overall C-6+ maybe C-7. Clean. The chrome is mostly shiny and nice. Pictures show it all.
This is A LOT of vintage train for the money, and an item of which you will be proud.
