How cool would this be hanging on your wall?
You are looking at a neat very early track leveller railroad tool used in the golden days of railroading. This tool is original. It is made of wood with metal parts as you can see. The unit has the step so you can measure the rail across an incline and make sure it is all balanced with your built-in leveller under the handle.
There are different models of this tool out there used through the years. This one with the steps is my favorite--it looks SO good on the wall and is quite a conversation piece.
There is no maker information that I can see or any associated railroad. The info may have worn off. This tool came out of a collection from a multi-generational Texas and Pacific employee family.
It is approximately 6 feet, 6 3/8" long. It is about 5 1/2" wide in the middle and approximately 3/4" thick.
It would look great on the wall in the train room or man cave.
CONDITION: . Vintage. Wood shows wear. Metal parts are oxidized and have some surface rust, bu they are here. Crack on one side. Level tool appears to work. SCROLL DOWN to see more pictures to be able to enlarge them.
