LINK COUPLER TRUCKS? 1953
You are looking at a neat car to add to your American Flyer collection.
The 948 is catalogued and listed in our books as a knuckle coupler item. HOWEVER, it did come into production in 1953, the year Flyer switched from link to knuckle. Perhaps this car is a relic of the transition?
As you can see, it has LINK COUPLERS. The trucks are link coupler trucks, so it is not a coupler swap. The trucks look rivited in place, so I think it is factory.
This is the car that as it moves down the track the wipers underneath clean the grime off the tops of the rails. This cleaning car features metal trucks, link couplers, sheet metal truck sides with journal boxes, and metal axles.
This is an interesting one.
