Here is a cleaner version of the Lionel #212 Standard Gauge gondola. Lionel produced this number starting in 1926, but based on the variations, I would place this one in the late 20s to early 1930s.
There were a few different variations of the 212. These look great in a long line--on the layout!!!
Did you know that there are a few versions of this car:
This one:
-
Is the Maroon / Wine body version
- Has BLACK PRINT on the plates
- Brass plates
- Nickle journals
- Brass Brakewheels
- Oil label on the underneath
- Variation D in your Greenberg
Do you have this particular version? Be sure you have them all!
Sure to be an attention-getter in the prewar collection.
CONDITION: C-6+. Really good rubber stamping of name on side. Some rust on wheels. Some kind of paint wear on inside of gondola probably from a load. Some paint nicks here and there.
