BEAUTIFUL!!
You are looking at a classic electric engine from 1927-36, one of the Lionel icons, widely considered one of the greatest engines Lionel ever made. This is one of those engines that graces the cover of the price guides or magazines. The #408E Standard Gauge electric engine is DUAL MOTORED. Each truck is motorized.
This one has been restored, and is the uncatalogued and rare State Car dark green version, which was usually a factory repaint to match the green state cars.
There are a few variations of this locomotive. THIS ONE is:
-
State Car Dark Green paint
-
Super Motors
-
Nickle journals
- Brass trim
-
Dual Motors
- Each is a Super Motor
-
Lights
- Reverse
- NYC Prototype
- 17 1/2" long
- Large folding pantographs
THIS unit is an original Lionel unit from the prewar era. It has been rewheeled and repainted--restored--with new reproduction wheels.
CONDITION: Beautiful restoration.Tested and runs, lights and reverses. Body has been repainted. Brass plates, grills, and roof details such as pantographs all appear original. Brass door, etc do show some oxidation. Base is either new or repainted. Case plots are either repaints or repro. Nickel journals most likely reproduction, but not sure. Really nice paint job with some paint nicks along the roof edge. Original motors. Wheels are modern replacements.
We tried to get the pics as close as we could for you.
