Here is a neat diecast 2-6-2 steam engine that Lionel made prewar and then in 1945 and 1946 when they re-opened after the war. In fact, in 1945, this engine headed Lionel's first train set back in business, set #463W.
THIS one is the version from 1946.
This is a die cast engine with the shorter style drawbar as was the issue in the postwar era. Still, you can connect to most any tender you want. This means you can run it with your prewar OR your postwar trains--just hook up whichever tender you like. This listing is for the locomotive only--there is no tender with this item.
As you can see, a previous owner repainted this one in the steam engine livery of the Chicago Burlington and Quincy, the CB&Q.
