You are looking at the iconic Lionel Postwar Texas Special set, an A unit and B unit. Numbered 2245, the Texas Special F3s were produced by Lionel in 1954-55. THIS version is the 1954 set with the portholes in the B unit and the horizontal motor. This set comes with both boxes: a box for the power unit, the insert for that box, the box for the B unit, instruction slip, and original instructions.

Check out how clean the front apron is. There are two very small touch ups on one side of the front apron along the the top and bottom edge. Hard to see, but there.

Hard to see, but there. There appears to be a thin coat of clearcoat that has been put on it at some point, only noticeable because there are a miniscule bubbles in a few places. Overall, it has protected it well. . This clearcoat was likely applied to keep it as attractive as it is. Overall, it has protected it well. Super clean silver trucks. Clean battery compartment.
The Boxes are nice but one does show repaired flaps. Boxes show common wear. Power A unit has the insert. The instructions are here and in good shape. With original inspection slip as well.
