You are looking at the iconic Lionel Postwar Texas Special set, an A unit and B unit. Numbered 2245, the Texas Special F3s were produced by Lionel in 1954-55. THIS version is the 1954 set with the portholes in the B unit and the horizontal motor.
You know how hard it is to find these clean. And these will stay clean thanks to a think layer of clearcoat a previous owner applied to keep it that way.
The Texas Special was the first Lionel F3 to be produced with a single motor, but it is still powerful coming equipped with Magnetraction.
Features:
- A unit with motor
- Magnetraction
- Portholes,
- Operating horn,
- Die-cast metal trucks
- Operating headlight,
- Three position reverse
- Operating knuckle couplers
- Silver trucks
Has a really nice box for the Power A which includes the cardboard insert. Also includes original instructions and inspection slip.
Check out how clean the front apron is. There are two very small touch ups on one side of the front apron along the the top and bottom edge. Hard to see, but there.
CONDITION: Tested and runs but does need service. Horn has not yet been tested. This is the cleanest one we have ever had. There are two very small touch ups on one side of the front apron along the the top and bottom edge. Hard to see, but there. There appears to be a thin coat of clearcoat that has been put on it at some point, only noticeable because there are a miniscule bubbles in a few places. Overall, it has protected it well. Super clean silver trucks. Clean battery compartment.
