Great with any AC trains such as Lionel, Marx, Ives, Dorfan or American Flyer.

You are looking at a solid transformer from the 1970s. This is the 50 watt transformer that comes with direction control. It came in some of the nicer sets in the 70s. For sure, it was a step up from the 25-45 watt transformers that came with many sets. The right hand terminal post is also a direction button--you push down on it to make the train reverse.

This is a fine transformer to use with any postwar or modern era set whether Marx, Lionel, even American Flyer.
