Here is a really neat Lionel GP-7 diesel engine for the Atomic Energy Commission. It is in the bold red and white scheme to go along with your other AEC items.

Molded in glow-in-the-dark material, just like the rolling stock, this engine looks good even when the lights are out. What’s more, deep inside the locomotive is a flashing red strobe which lights up the whole interior! You won’t believe your eyes (or ears!)! It’s the GP you have waited your whole life for. Don’t let it pass you by.

CONDITION: C-8+ like new. Tested and all functions work: cool unique radioactive warning railsounds, blinking red lights inside, and more. Box is in P-7 with small signs of shelfwear. No instructions.  

Of course, K-Line engines are fully compatible with Lionel, Atlas O, MTH, Marx, Williams, and other three rail O gauge cars.

Some History
The Atomic Energy Commission of the United States, or AEC, was established in 1946 to govern the production and use of nuclear material in this country. The U.S. government specifically established the AEC to move the control of nuclear material from military to civilian regulation. Abolished in 1974, all the AEC's research and other duties to various other agencies.

Railroads by their nature are ideally suited for carrying large and heavy loads in a very safe manner. Railroads can move a higher load capacity then trucks and in many less shipments. Since the 1970s, over 200 annual shipments of highly radioactive wastes have been safely carried on the rails of this country
