Here is a neat clean 1940's era Lionel item--this is a postwar 6466WX tender. It would look great with any of your old postwar Lionel--or run it with your PREWAR steam engine and have a way to TRANSITION into your postwar cars. It will look good with any tenderless Lionel steam engine from any year post 1945. It has the operating knuckle coupler on the back.
The number tells us it has a whistle (W) and that this particular one was only available in sets (X).
This 1940's early coal tender model was an renewal of a prewar tender based on a real New York Central tender. It has the metal handrails on the back of the tender deck. These were not used on this style of tender after 1950.
The 6466WX originally came in sets with steam engines in 1946-48 such as the
-
675 in 1948-49
-
2025 in 1948-49
-
2026 in 1948-49
BUT it will go with ANY Lionel steam engine.
-
Nice simulated coal load up top.
-
Wire handrails
- Staple end trucks
- Operating coupler
- Drawbar
-
Metal wheels and axles
- Compatible with any three rail O gauge steam engine
CONDITION: C-6. Serviced and operating as it should. Motor and relay recently cleaned. The lettering looks SUPER nice on this one. Would be like new EXCEPT that there is a chip in the front right hand corner, pictured (might not notice when it is running behind the steam engine on the layout). If you look sideways and squint you might see some light wear. You can see it all in the pictures. BOX has detached and torn flaps and some age related discoloration. Still, a nice box worth having. We have provided numerous enlargeable pics--go for it and see it as up close as possible.
