You are looking at a big beautiful prewar steam engine and tender in the classic black. You gotta love any of the art deco streamlined looking locomotives. Call it a Torpedo style, call it the first Silver Bullet, but call it yours before someone else does.
This is a classic looking engine and tender produced by Lionel in the mid to late 1930's. The streamlined style really gives it that great classic toy train look. The 1688 is one of the ones collectors and operates alike love to have.
CONDITION: C-6+. Serviced and running, reversing. Nicely repainted flat black. You can see a little paint around the nameplates. There's some oxidation and wear on all of the plates. The slot and tab have rust.
