This is ONE SCARCE ITEM
One of about 35
When will you have this opportunity again?
Here is one of the scarcest cars out there. This is the Republic of Texas President's Mint car. It was a special item only available as a VIP Swag gift given to VIPs at the 2016 Train Collectors Association (TCA) National Convention Banquet in Houston, Texas. If you were a Division President or a National Officer, you were given one of these at the banquet. There are a few national officers and twenty division presidents. Do the math! To the best of my knowledge, there were roughly 30-35 cars like this given out.
This one is in the original box and shipper, marked for the Southern Pacific mint car that had been offered by the TCA Lone Star Division in 2012. The bottom underside of the car also has the print "TCA Lone Star Division 2012" as these cars were used for the PROFESSIONAL CUSTOM work on this car. Because of this, some people refer to this car as 58512b.
The car is a Republic of Texas display car carrying panels representing the four PRESIDENTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS (yes, Texas was its own nation at one time!):
- David G. Burnett Interim President 1836
- Sam Houston 1st and 3rd President 1836-1838 and 1841-1844
- Mirabeau B. Lamar 2nd President 1838-1841
- Anson Jones Last President 1844-1846
The car also has the markings of the Republic such as the years of the Republic and the familiar Lone Star flag, as well.
It is a custom repaint/decalling only available to a few lucky VIPs at the convention.
Do you collect Texas railroad? TCA items? Historical stuff?
CONDITION: C-9. Opened. Might have been displayed, but do not think so. A few imperfections from the custom paint and decalling: decal glue drop above the safe handles in middle on one side; small red paint smudge on bottom, one side under San Houston; tiny spot of decal solution visible above "the" in lower panel; small dot of solution visible in the curtain roll above Anson Jones . Pictures are of everything and are part of the description. Otherwise, new. With box and original shipper.
