You are looking at an interesting item from the early days of trains. This is the Lionel 58 gooseneck lamp post. This is the Cream version. It has the cloth wire underneath. Perfectly sized to go with Standard gauge OR O guage.
It is 7 1/2" tall. Lionel 58 on the underside of the base.
As you can see, it has paint rubs and some dirt, but it is unbroken and working. It has been rewired. The light bulb is a most likely a replacement. The cleaning we like to leave as a choice for the next owner.
A very interesting item for your collection or your conversation...Not something you see everyday. These came in many colors--make sure you have them all!
