This is an earlier MTH tinplate item. As such, it is not one you see for sale all that often.Â
It is a remake of the old classic American Flyer Standard Gauge Mayflower set, but it has been plated in 18K gold and the cars honor toy train giants. Use it with any standard gauge, and it will be right at home...or put it on the shelf and just sit there and admire the Millennium out of it.
The MTH 10-1126-1 Millennium (WIDE RADIUS as Flyer called it) Standard Gauge Presidential Locomotive Set is one of the most stunning Standard Gauge locomotive sets to ever grace a pike. It first appeared in the 1920s from American Flyer.  But THIS one is GOLD PLATED.

MTH issued it both in its digital Protosound "CONTEMPORARY" version, and the traditional version, closer to the way it was originally. THIS ONE IS THE CONTEMPORARY VERSION. Note that Protosounds 1 is not a part of the DCS system.

CONDITION: C-7+ to C-8. Has been out of the box and displayed. If run, has not been much! NEW BATTERY INSTALLED FOR YOU. Engine tested and runs, lights, reverses, sounds all work. Pilot truck sounds a little squeaky, but we do not want to oil and put back in the box and risk oil getting on finish, so we will let you lube the axles. HARD TO SEE: Some light on scratches on back of decks from the truck turning in operation. Ives car has rub on top towards end; Gilbert car has sp,e small scratches on top; observation has a rail slightly bent from packaging. Pick ups show no noticeable lines. Set is otherwise stunning.
All BOXES here and show bit of shelfwear such as creases and corner creases. SHIPPER shows usual shipper wear. Pictures show it all. Scroll down to see more pics, then SCROLL ALL THE WAY to the bottom to see MORE!!
Shiny GOLD. The set looks to be LIKE NEW.
Note that the engine and cars are all shiny GOLD PLATED; it is very difficult to photograph this and have it look right--some of the pictures have it captured; others make the roofs and sides look darker.
